UAV Competition
UAV Categories
The 2010 Competition covers these categories:
ImWY (I’m Watching You)
This category evaluates the monitoring and surveillance capabilities of an UAV. The participating teams have no restrictions concerning the nature of the physical parameters to be measured, but must defined on the project documentation, explaining the data acquisition and processing methods to be used. The UAV must be able to stay and analyze a given, non static area during a certain period of time without receiving direct orders from the ground. This time is defined by T = 500* t_type.
- ImWY-A (I’m Watching You – Airplanes). Maximum height of 2km. Where t_type = 2
- ImWY-B (I’m Watching You – Balloons). Maximum height of 2 km. Where t_type = 3
- ImWY-C (I’m Watching You – X-Copter). Maximum height of 1 km. Where t_type = 1
Come-back UAV
The UAVs must be able to take off from a position P1, reach a height P2 within the ranges detailed below for a minimum period of 2 minutes and finally landing in a position P3. The horizontal distances between each point will be: X = 100 * (type). If the descent and landing are done also autonomously, the team will receive an additional bonus.
- CB-A (ComeBack – Airplanes). Maximum height of 2km. Where t_type = 2
- CB-B (ComeBack – Balloons). Maximum height of 2 km. Where t_type = 3
- CB-C (ComeBack – X-Copter). Maximum height of 1 km. Where t_type = 1
Experimental UAV
This category is designed as an encyclopedia, for all those people who want to test only certain subsystems for the categories described above or to perform scientific experiments of diverse nature. In this category, stratospheric balloons (30-40 km altitude) might be considered.
The members of the jury will evaluate the performances of each UAV in the launch field.
See the bases for more information.
